Presentation
A 3-day geology mini-course this summer in Chamrousse, specially adapted for children: search for minerals, discover an extinct volcano, observe rocks, experiment with the water cycle... Supervised by the Centre de Géologie de l'Oisans - Alpes.
The activities on offer will allow us to experiment and learn about the workings of our planet, while having fun at the same time. Over the three days, we'll also learn how to read a map, find our way in the mountains and observe the animals and plants around us.
Supervision : Lucie Bonvallet, geologist, mountain leader and scientific coordinator at the Centre de Géologie de l'Oisans, who is passionate about teaching the Earth sciences.
3 DAYS IN THE SKIN OF A GEOLOGIST" program:
- DAY 1 Wonderful minerals: day hike to the Casserousse couloir (7km - D+: 350 m)
- DAY 2 In search of vanished landscapes: day hike to Lac Achard (6km - D+: 250 m)
- DAY 3 Hidden water: day hike around the Espace Naturel Sensible de l'Arselle (6km - D+: 100 m)
Meeting times and locations for each day are specified in the detailed program download below. Children must be dropped off and picked up by a parent or guardian.
An information and release form must be provided for each child (forms supplied at registration).
Each day, a hike adapted to the physical level of children aged 7 and over will be proposed.
During this hike, activities to discover the Earth Sciences will be proposed.
This program concerns outdoor activities. It may be modified for safety reasons (weather, accessibility, etc.) or for reasons beyond the control of the organizer or guide.
Partnership between the Centre de Géologie de l'Oisans Alpes, the Département de l'Isère and the Maison du Patrimoine et de l'Environnement de Chamrousse.
The Centre de Géologie de l'Oisans Alpes is a non-profit association created in 1988, located in the heart of the Alps. Professional geologists: three salaried employees with PhDs in Earth Sciences who lead our activities for a wide range of audiences.
Online registration required on the Centre de Géologie de l'Oisans Alpes (CGO) website.
