Chamrousse destination: when two tourism forces join forces for our mountains

Here's a look back at the successful collaboration between our Tourist Office (OT) and the Regional Tourism Agency (ART) on 3 of the priority subjects of communication, training and promoting know-how, at the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes (AURA) Regional Tourist Office Day on Thursday 18 January 2024, organised by the "Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Tourisme" agency at the Valence Romans Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, which includes the ski and mountain resort of Chamrousse, is the 2nd largest tourist region in France: 1st region for outdoor tourism, 1st region for winter sports, 2nd region for gourmet tourism, 2nd region for business tourism and 3rd region for spa tourism.
This is the backdrop to the 2022-2028 Tourism Plan launched by the Region, 2 of whose 5 priorities directly concern us:
  • Priority n°1: support for the development of tourism (outdoor activities, summer/winter mountain activities, itinerant and long-distance walking and cycling tours, spa and health activities, gastronomy and wine tourism, and tourism based on know-how.
  • Priority n°5: Support for regions and tourism stakeholders through the work of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Tourisme agency (from the production of the tourism offering, to observation, promotion/communication, including the design of the offering and training of stakeholders).

Conclusion

The collaboration between the Chamrousse Tourist Office and the regional agency Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Tourisme promotes local economic development by generating a flow of visitors, strengthening the local economy and supporting the region's tourism players by making intelligent use of available resources, optimising marketing campaigns, online presence and promotional events.
This is a concrete example of what can be achieved when tourism stakeholders join forces. This synergy has demonstrated that cooperation between local and regional institutions can catalyse tourism growth, ensuring a prosperous future for Chamrousse and enhancing the reputation of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region as a must-visit destination.
