Top 10 mountain activities in Chamrousse
Chamrousse is a ski resort, but not just that... it's also a destination for mountain activities in winter (and hiking and cycling in summer). What can you do in a ski resort in winter if you don't ski? Come and discover the joys of the snow and enjoy activities other than skiing: the mountains and their benefits for recharging your batteries.
Which ski resort for non-skiers? Chamrousse, of course, for a family holiday with children or grandchildren, a wellness break or an unusual weekend for couples, but also for a sporting day out with your group or a more festive one with friends.
In short, discover the must-see winter mountain activities in Chamrousse!
1) Snowshoeing and mountain walking
The number one activity for as many people as possible: walking in the fresh air of the mountains! To enjoy the benefits of nature and altitude on foot (or with snowshoes if there's a lot of snow), there's something for everyone:
- a hike in the intimacy of the resort's forest, such as the route to Achard lake via Clairières
- a walk to the top of the resort the Croix de Chamrousse to admire the exceptional 360° view over Grenoble and its valley: a star trail lasting around 1h30 in the Panoramic Park (Oisans belvedere, Grenoble rooftop and Himalayan footbridge)
- or a short, very easy hike in the magnificent Nordic area, on the "Tour de l'Arselle" pedestrian trail.
2) Unusual mountain activities
For a family or romantic break or weekend away, don't miss out on an unusual outing in a dogsled, on horseback, on a snowmobile or under the ice:- a dog sledding experience in the unusual setting of Chamrousse 1600 - Arselle plateau, also known as "Little Canada", with the Taillefer massif as a backdrop
- a carriage ride pulled by a draught horse, for a nature outing along the path linking the Nordic and Alpine areas near Grenoble
- a snowmobile hire without a licence for a walk in the forest in the heart of the Alps, for a mountain getaway in a park dedicated to snow scooters
- a trip underwater with ice diving, one of the few spots in France, for a more challenging mountain adventure
3) Tobogganing and sliding
