National campaign to prevent accidents on the slopes with Riski!

To ensure safe skiing this winter, particularly during the holidays, the French National Federation for Safety and Rescue in Ski Areas (FNSSDS) and the Ministry of Sport, Youth and Community Life are stepping up their commitment to mountain safety.

Winter sports in the mountains require appropriate preparation and compliance with essential safety rules.

Adopt the right habits to enjoy the slopes with peace of mind:
I prepare myself:
  • I prepare myself physically before a skiing holiday
  • I check the weather forecast
  • I take out insurance, as rescue services are not free
  • I seek advice from professionals
  • I adjust and maintain my equipment
  • I wear a helmet
  • I warm up before hitting the slopes
I have the technique:
  • I anticipate my trajectories
  • I always keep a safe distance
  • I slow down at intersections
  • I make sure the landing area is clear before jumping
  • I use slopes that are suitable for my level
  • I learn to ski on the slopes with an instructor
  • I adjust my speed in all circumstances
I respect:
  • I respect others
  • I use the slopes without disturbing others
  • I respect the markings and signs
  • I share the slopes with others
  • I pay attention to children
  • I respect the beginner areas
  • I pay particular attention to beginners
  • I assist others
I adapt:
  • I park at the edge of the slope
  • When stationary, I always remain visible to others
  • I stay at the edge so I can climb back up the slope if necessary
  • I take a break at the first signs of fatigue
  • I do not sit on a ski slope
  • I do not enter a closed slope
  • I am extra vigilant on hard snow
