GR®738 hike - From Chamrousse to La Pra mountain refuge (step 10)
One of the most beautiful hikes from Chamrousse to the gateway to the high mountains. Discover the magnificent lakes and wildlife of the mountain pastures.

Departure point: Chamrousse 1650 - Recoin tourist office.
Passing Lac des Pourettes, then Lacs Robert via the north spur, and finally a myriad of delightful lakes.
Arrival: Refuge de la Pra at 2105m.
In just a few minutes, you'll be overlooking the resort, with breathtaking views of the Vercors and Chartreuse massifs. Meet the shepherd and his flock of sheep on the Recoin mountain pasture before entering the Chamrousse cembraie. Between forests, clearings, wetlands and blueberry fields, you won't want to miss this magnificent walk. The small Lac des Pourettes and the Roberts lakes are ideal for a break.
Pets allowed: in summer, dogs are allowed on all trails on a leash. The shepherd who works in Chamrousse in summer doesn't have patous, but in the direction of the Pra refuge, watch out for herds with patous dogs.
VARIANTE -> departure from Croix de Chamrousse, access by cable car (open from 9.15am to 5pm): 3h for 6.4km; D+330m/D-460m (return trip 6h30 for 12.8km)

❌Prohibited: fire (except camping stove) and bivouac under the La Pra refuge (from July, 15th to August, 31th) and around the Claret and Merlat lakes (all year)
✔️Authorised: bivouac from sunset to sunrise (outside the refuge area, Claret and Merlat lakes) / Advised: hiking on developed paths and dog on a lead, especially near herds with patous (protection and defence dogs).
